Mark and his family moved to Moorpark from Northridge in 2002. With his sons approaching the very critical middle school years, he and his wife, Ute (pronounced oo-tey) felt that it might be an opportune time to look for a community to raise their children in having a tradition of safety, security, and a city where family values are well-developed. They didn't look long or far before coming to the conclusion that Moorpark was that place. Mark and Ute have two sons. Hunter, the youngest son, attends Mesa Verde Middle School. Tyler will begin an exciting four years at Moorpark High School starting in the Fall. Both boys are very talented musically. Hunter plays a variety of instruments including the flute, saxophone, clarinet, violin, and guitar. Tyler's main emphasis is on the various saxophones, where he was chosen to the Ventura County Middle School Honor Band in 2006 for playing the baritone saxophone. The boys can thank their music teacher at Mesa Verde, Ms. Samantha Blake, for making music interesting and fun. Her outgoing personality allowed both boys to excel in music and make it an important part of their lives. Ute is a school psychologist for the Los Angeles Unified School District. She has been with the district for almost 18 years and currently works at a high school in the valley that serves over 5000 students. She often says that Mark is her "life long case study."
